Associate Scientist II, in vivo Pharmacology
Your Impact
Alpha-9 Oncology is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist with hands-on experience working with murine cancer models to join our innovative in vivo group within the Translational Biology team. This position is centered on the execution of in vivo studies—including animal handling, dosing, monitoring, and tissue collection—to support the preclinical evaluation of radiopharmaceuticals.
In this lab-based role, you’ll contribute directly to study execution and daily operations, working closely with our Translational team that includes vitro biology and in vivo to ensure high-quality data and seamless collaboration. While this role plays an important part in our broader discovery efforts, the primary focus is hands-on animal work rather than strategic program leadership or drug development planning.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about working directly with animal models and eager to build meaningful experience in a dynamic, translational research environment.
How You’ll Contribute
- Provide compassionate care for laboratory animals in collaboration with the husbandry animal technicians to ensure animal monitoring and health, behavior, and welfare surveillance in accordance with CCAC guidelines.
- Support the Translational Biology in vivo group with animal handling, restraints, injections, surgery, post-operative care, blood sampling and tissue collection.
- Participate in lab management tasks including but not limited to tracking and stocking inventories, ordering consumables, maintenance and calibration of equipment.
- Coordinate with the rest in vitro group for efficient workflow regarding cell injections.
- Maintain clear and accurate lab records (e.g., monitoring sheets, health reports, data spreadsheets) and communicate any observed abnormalities in a timely manner.
- Assist in SOP writing and maintenance/certification schedule for equipment.
- Perform other related activities within the Translational Biology in vivo group as needed.
The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of industry experience, including hands-on work with murine models, particularly immunodeficient mice.
- Familiarity with laboratory animal care standards and Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely within a laboratory environment.
- Experience with radiopharmaceuticals is an asset, though not required.
- Excellent observational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Highly organized with solid documentation and record-keeping practices.
- Effective communicator with the ability to convey information clearly across teams.
- Strong team player with a collaborative mindset.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
